Zinedine Zidane and Lionel Messi are two living legends of the world of football. However, in the past, these two have not had many opportunities to sit down and chat due to working for rival football teams, Real and Barca.
Recently, Messi had a reunion with his predecessor Zidane during an interview. The two stars exchanged compliments before swapping jerseys.
Messi and Zidane recently had a chat and shared their thoughts.
When talking about Messi, there is only one word that comes to mind – magic. I don’t get to meet Messi often, so today is an important occasion for me to tell him how much I admire him. All football fans share the belief that Messi can perform magic with the ball,” Zidane shared.
Meanwhile, Messi described Zidane as “great”. “I’m not saying this just because Zidane is here, I’ve mentioned it several times before. Zidane is one of the greatest players in history. I always admire and love him. I’ve been following Zidane since I came to Barca,” Messi stated.
After 17 years of professional football, Zidane had a fulfilling career, winning all the major titles possible from the Champions League, Euro to the World Cup. He also won the Ballon d’Or in 1998 and was voted FIFA’s Player of the Year three times. As a coach, Zidane made his mark by leading Real Madrid to three consecutive Champions League titles.
Messi holds the record for the most collective honors in history (44 titles). The Argentine superstar has also won the Ballon d’Or eight times. With the 2022 World Cup championship, Messi successfully captured the last major cup. At the age of 36, Messi is enjoying playing football at Inter Miami.
